Kellstadt Marketing Group (KMG) is a graduate student organization at DePaul University Kellstadt Graduate School of Business.
We are committed to driving the development of graduate marketing professionals and providing a networking forum for graduate students, alumni, faculty, and industry experts. We focus on providing our members with the resources, knowledge and connections to become successful marketing professionals. In addition to providing a hub for professional networking, KMG also provides educational programs that enrich the graduate and experienced professionals’ careers. Jennifer Kuo, President
Jennifer Kuo is a MS in Marketing Analysis candidate at DePaul University. She holds a Commerce degree from the University of Melbourne in Australia, with a double major in Finance and Management. She is bilingual and has lived in South Africa, Taiwan, and Australia before coming to the U.S.
An accomplished data analyst in the pharmaceuticals industry, Jennifer is passionate about utilizing data to identify and develop Marketing strategies. She is experienced in project management, corporate strategy, business analysis, and loves a good challenge. Her current areas of interest in Marketing are consumer analytics and Martech.
In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys reading, snowboarding, and learning how to code. She also has an unhealthy obsession with the musical Hamilton.
As president, Jennifer is excited to build value for students and marketing professionals. She looks forward to bringing enriching events and services to the DePaul community.
Steven Raetzman, VP of Finance and Operations
Steven is currently an MBA Candidate at DePaul with a concentration in finance in the Full-Time Day Cohort MBA program. He comes from the world of high-frequency trading and has spent the last four years at a proprietary trading firm at the Chicago Board of Trade. Before his time at the CBOT he completed his bachelor’s degree in finance from Loyola University Chicago. Upon graduation from DePaul, Steven looks to get back into the areas of trading, investment analysis, portfolio management, or business development.
In his free time, he enjoys reading and staying on top of new market trends, exploring new parts of Chicago that he has not previously visited, and spending time during the summer relaxing up in Northern Wisconsin.
Mako Kosugi, VP of Events Management
Mako is a girl made in Japan, an MS Marketing candidate at Kellstadt Graduate School of Business. Mako holds a B.S. in Communication Studies with a minor in Psychology. Her motivation to stay in school longer and learn psychology came from a wish to read what men are actually thinking about on a date. She also has extensive experiences in Public Relations, Organizational Behavior/Personality Psychology, and Graphic Design.
Outside of school and work, Mako enjoys 6 hobbies: Hip Hop dancing, playing/watching basketball, going out, watching Broadway shows, stalking people on social media, and exploring new (and cheap) restaurants.
Her love for Nike and strong desire to get employee discounts helped her obtain a Marketing Internship Position at Nike Japan in Summer 2017, she could not have enjoyed that summer more.
Erin Jordan, VP of Public Relations
An accomplished public relations and marketing professional, Erin is currently expanding her marketing chops as a marketing MBA student at DePaul’s Kellstadt School of Business. Erin’s marketing experience most recently includes her work as as a Senior Account Director and Partner at Walker Sands, a Chicago-based integrated marketing firm focused on growing B2B tech businesses. There she leads a growing team across a variety of B2B tech practice areas focused on retail and marketing technology, and produces the widely-renowned annual Future of Retail report.
Marketing aside, Erin is passionate about the arts and travel. She can most often be found playing any stringed instrument she can get her hands on or exploring Chicago via bicycle.
Erin holds a Bachelor of Arts in advertising and public relations and Bachelor of Science in social science psychology, in addition to a minor in studio art photography (film and digital) from Loyola University Chicago.
Recently selected as one of the nation's 12 rising leaders in PR to serve as a board member on PR Council’s first PRC Next shadow board, Erin is thrilled to be bringing her love for storytelling and marketing to this year’s Kellstadt Marketing Group board.
Elena Znova, VP of Brand Strategy
Elena (Lena) is a highly skilled professional from Russia who runs marathons in her spare time.
She spent the last decade reaching three degrees (MD, MA marketing, and in process of reaching her MBA). When people ask her, how is it possible, her answer is: “I just love learning new things”. This is exactly the reason bringing her to the US and DePaul University. In her free time besides running, Lena enjoys taking thousands of pictures of amazing Chicago, trying new coffee places, and visiting as much social events as possible.
She worked for the healthcare industry for longer than you can imagine, and if you have any questions about health/wellness or marketing in those areas, Lena is your person to ask.
Jonathan Portugal, VP of Information and Technology
Jonathan is an MBA candidate at DePaul University with a focus in business strategy and decision making. He currently holds a BSE from the University of Michigan in Computer Science. He is using his background to bridge the gap between business and technology teams and to develop cross discipline solutions in the healthcare industry.
Outside of school and work, Jonathan enjoys playing soccer, developing machine learning applications, and learning about astrobiology.
Lisa Mao, VP of Digital Engagement
Graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising, Lisa is a young entrepreneur who is currently pursuing her Master Degree in Marketing at Kellstadt Graduate School of Business.
As the co-founder and the CEO of a technology start-up, Lisa aspires to lead social revolutions through connecting technology applications to existing market infrastructures.
Aside from running her own business, Lisa is also a movie producer who currently works on a full-length film production that attempts to raise social awareness for the kids growing up with poverty and violence in Chicago.
From music to poetry, modern arts to philosophy, Lisa is a life enthusiast who has tons of hobbies that keep her mind active and persistently thinking WITHOUT THE BOX. If you
ever want to have a discussion about any random little things in life, hit her up! She’s down to have any deep-but-not-so-deep talk at all times.
Linda Hays, VP of Brand Communication
Linda is an MS Marketing candidate at DePaul with a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Iowa. With nearly seven years of experience in B2B marketing, Linda’s career has been focused on helping restaurants grow and succeed. She currently is a Program Marketing Specialist at US Foods, one of the country’s leading foodservice distributors, and is helping to shape the marketing strategies for innovative programs that bring value to restaurants nationwide.
Prior to her marketing career, Linda was a writer for the RedEye and Metromix in Chicago. She covered everything from local events to nightlife and, of course, restaurants. For one story, she had to review several haunted houses in Chicago and eat an ant egg omelet – so needless to say, she’s not afraid of doing what it takes to get the job done.
Dr. Zafar Iqbal
Zafar Iqbal is the Associate Professor of Marketing at DePaul University's Driehaus College of Business and Kellstadt Graduate School of Business. He is also Associate Director for Regional Initiatives at DePaul. developing and executing DePaul’s strategy in India. Zafar earned a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Pittsburgh, an M.S. in Industrial Relations from Iowa State University, and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT at the University of Poona, India. He teaches courses in new product development, developing sustainable business models, marketing strategy and management, and advanced consumer insights. He has taught at the MBA level at the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand, the Czech Management Center in the Czech Republic and at the executive level at Steinbeis University in Germany. He also leads international study abroad programs for DePaul students to India, Japan and the Middle East. For his teaching, he has been awarded the Lawrence W Ryan Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Award 7 times, the DePaul University Excellence in Teaching Award 2 times, and the Gus Economos Distinguished Graduate Teaching Award 2 times.
Zafar is also the author of business and scholarly articles which have appeared in journals such as Journal of Marketing, California Management Review, Sloan Management Review, Journal of Service Research, and Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management.
Zafar has worked in business-to-business marketing for Thermax Corporation, India. Zafar is the Principal Consultant at Erudite Consulting, which he founded in 2005. He has 15+ years of consulting experience, having worked as a consultant to various corporations, including Knowles Electronics, Terumo, Alfa Laval, Skoda, Walgreens, Motorola, Healthpoint, DHL, ISACA, Pohang Iron & Steel Company, Zenith Corporation, Credit Suisse First Boston, and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
He is the co-founder of Friends for India’s Development and Assistance (FIDA), a not-for-profit founded to educate tribal children in rural India. He is fluent in English, Hindi, Marathi, Urdu and Gujarati. He speaks German at an intermediate level, and reads Arabic at a basic level.
